Steam Linux Mint

How-To Fix Steam Not Working On Linux Mint

If you can’t get Steam working on Linux Mint or Ubuntu it’s liking that you’re either missing the 32bit libraries or dependencies are missing.  Here is a step by step guide on how to fix both of those issues:

Install 32 bit libraries

  1. Open terminal
  2. sudo apt-get install libnvidia-gl-390:i386
  3. Profit

Install Steam using Flatpak

  1. Open terminal
  2. If necessary purge the current Steam install with “sudo apt purge steam && sudo apt install steam
  3. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alexlarsson/flatpak
  4. sudo apt update && sudo apt install flatpak xdg-desktop-portal
  5. sudo flatpak remote-add –if-not-exists flathub
  6. sudo flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam

I’ve used this to fix Steam on Linux Mint 19 however it will likely work on Ubuntu and other Debian derivatives.
